Escitalopram Tablets – Product Information
Escitalopram Tablets is used for the treatment of major depression, social anxiety disorder (social phobia), generalized anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Escitalopram Tablets is used for acute as well as maintenance treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in adults as well as adolescents aged between 12 to 17 years of age. It is also used for acute treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Escitalopram (Escitalopram Oxalate tablets) is sometimes prescribed off-label to treat other indications like social anxiety disorder, panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
The active ingredient present in Escitalopram is Escitalopram Oxalate.
Each film-coated tablet of Escitalopram contains Escitalopram oxalate equivalent to 5 mg, 10 mg and 20 mg of Escitalopram.
Uses of Escitalopram
Escitalopram anti anxiety pills are prescribed to treat anxiety in adults and major depressive disorder in adults and adolescents who are at least 12 years old. Escitalopram Oxalate is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) that affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression or anxiety.
Escitalopram Tablets – Dosage
The dosage of Escitalopram Tablets for the treatment of various indications is given below:
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD):
Adolescents and Adults: The recommended starting dose is 10 mg once daily and the maximum dosage should not exceed 20 mg once daily
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD):
Adults Dosage: The recommended starting dose is 10 mg once daily.
How to Use Escitalopram Tablets
Take Escitalopram tablets with a glass of water once daily, with or without food. Take the escitalopram tablets at the same time for as long as they have been prescribed. You may have to take this medication for a long period of time depending on your condition. Your doctor may increase your dose, depending on what you are being treated for.
